NEXUS Members Receive Honors
from SABIAN Ltd.
SABIAN Ltd., the manufacturer of fine cymbals for Percussionists the World over, presented its
‘Lifetime Achievement Award’
to NEXUS members Bob Becker and Bill Cahn.
Retired NEXUS member, John Wyre, was also a recipient.
The Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented during the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Columbus, Ohio. On November 3, 2005 over two-hundred percussionists gathered at the Hyatt Regency Hotel for the presentation of the Awards to Bob Becker, Bill Cahn, Ian Turnbull (London, Ontario) and John Wyre.
Past recipients of the Award include (among others) Alan Abel (Philadelphia Orchestra), Vic Firth (Boston Symphony), Morris ˜Arnie’ Lang (New York Philharmonic), and jazz greats, Roy Burns, Jim Chapin, Joe Morello, Ed Shaughnessy and Ed Thigpen.
SABIAN was founded in 1981 on the banks of the St. John River in the tiny village of Meductic, New Brunswick. In that quiet hamlet in eastern Canada, SABIAN produces instruments played by some of the world’s most famous drummers and percussionists.
